TAPP Denounces Federal Trade Commission’s Market Overreach, Supports Technology Innovators

The House Judiciary Committee held a hearing today on the Oversight of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The hearing focused on FTC chair Lina Khan and FTC’s market overreach and centralization of power.

The FTC was formed to protect Americans and promote fair competition. Recently, however, the FTC has strayed away from their foundational purpose. Technological innovators are beacons of American values in the international landscape and they should be promoted, not hindered, in their efforts.

Additionally, technological innovation is a matter of national security and economic prosperity. The recent actions of the FTC are misguided and will weaken U.S. global competitiveness.

Government agencies should not act as unnecessary roadblocks in between American companies and technological innovations. Instead, government agencies should ensure that American companies are well equipped to compete in the global technology industry.
