TAPP Signs Coalition Letter Commemorating World IP Day

The Trade Alliance to Promote Prosperity, in collaboration with 93 think tanks and advocacy organizations across 42 countries, today released an open letter to World Intellectual Property Organization Director General Daren Tang commemorating World Intellectual Property Day.

In part, the coalition wrote, “Intellectual property rights lay the groundwork necessary for promoting ingenuity, economic development, and culture. They protect creative ideas and innovations, such as artistic works, inventions, and symbols, ensuring that creators and businesses can be rewarded for their work. Unfortunately, there are a few activists and politicians who believe that IP is harmful, that it limits innovation to favor the well-connected. Nothing could be further from the truth. IPRs are a crucial component of the marketplace and incentivize all people to share their knowledge and work on their own terms. A global system centered on the protection of property rights, including intellectual property, is essential to sustaining a free, innovative, and prosperous economy.”
