TAPP in Kentucky State Journal: Guthrie should stand against ‘most favored nation’ plan

The Trade Alliance to Promote Prosperity penned an op-ed for the Kentucky State Journal, saying that, as chair of the House Energy & Commerce Committee, U.S. Representative Brett Guthrie should stand against the Trump administration's "most favored nation" drug-pricing plan.

In the op-ed, TAPP wrote, "President Trump’s plan calls for U.S. patients to pay the price of drugs in the foreign country where they are available the cheapest. The problem with this idea is that foreign governments set strict price controls on prescription drugs, so there is not enough profit to fund research and development into new medicines... Those countries are willing to let their citizens continue suffering or literally die early rather than pay for the most advanced therapies and cures... How many Kentuckians would die early because of the Trump administration’s well-intentioned but short-sighted pursuit of lower drug prices? Rep. Guthrie should work hard to make sure we don’t find out."
