Innovation Lives in Every State: TAPP Celebrates National IP Month
This month, the Trade Alliance to Promote Prosperity is celebrating the inventors, creators, entrepreneurs, and innovators whose ideas help drive American innovation and economic opportunity.
Innovation does not belong to one industry, one region, or one type of business. It happens in research laboratories and on family farms, in factories and startups, at universities and small businesses, and anywhere Americans are willing to take a risk on a new idea.
Strong intellectual property protections help make that innovation possible. Patents, copyrights, trademarks, and other IP rights give inventors and creators an opportunity to benefit from their work and give businesses greater confidence to invest in developing new products, technologies, medicines, and services.
The economic impact is substantial. TAPP has highlighted data showing that IP-intensive industries account for approximately 41 percent of U.S. economic activity and support more than 47 million American jobs. These industries contribute trillions of dollars to our economy while helping the United States remain competitive in an increasingly challenging global marketplace.
National IP Month is about more than statistics. It is about the people behind those numbers—the researchers pursuing a medical breakthrough, the farmers developing a better way to produce food, the engineers designing new technologies, the artists creating original works, and the entrepreneurs turning ideas into a businesses.
Innovation lives in every state and every community. Protecting intellectual property helps ensure that those ideas can grow into new products, new companies, new jobs, and new possibilities.
That’s why protecting American innovation and intellectual property should remain a priority in U.S. economic and trade policy.
This National IP Month, the Trade Alliance to Promote Prosperity celebrates America’s innovators and the intellectual property protections that help their ideas move America forward.
Join us in recognizing the importance of IP and the people behind the ideas that move America forward.
