TAPP Urges Senate HELP Committee to Reform 340B Program Incentives
The Trade Alliance to Promote Prosperity today wrote to the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education Labor & Pensions (HELP), in advance of the committee’s upcoming hearing on policy pathways to make medicine more affordable, to urge members to reform incentives, improve accountability, and ensure that the 340B program fulfills its intended mission of supporting vulnerable patients while controlling overall healthcare costs.
In part, TAPP wrote, “The federal 340B drug pricing program was created to help vulnerable patients access affordable care. However, a growing body of research suggests that misaligned incentives within the program may be contributing to higher healthcare costs while failing to reach many underserved communities.”
