TAPP Launches “Tariff Integrity” Initiative to Promote Fair Trade and Effective Enforcement

Tariffs should be respected or repealed—not flouted. TAPP launched the “Tariff Integrity” initiative to urge the U.S. Trade Representative to crack down on foreign businesses evading tariffs on aftermarket automobile parts and to fight for tariff integrity.

Qingdao Sunsong is an example of a foreign manufacturer attempting to monopolize the American automotive aftermarket. Sunsong is transshipping products to the United States via Thailand, breaking U.S. tariff law by representing that their products are from Thailand when they are actually from China.

The integrity of American laws, the robustness of the American economy, and America’s competitive edge are all at stake. Effective regulation and enforcement is essential to America maintaining a competitive edge in the international economy.

If U.S. government officials do not act swiftly and effectively, American companies could be in danger. That’s why TAPP is urging the U.S. Trade Representative to enforce U.S. tariff law and to not stand for foreign companies breaking our laws.
