The Democrats’ Reconciliation Package is Detrimental to American Taxpayers and Patients

Senators Chuck Schumer of New York and Joe Manchin of West Virginia have come together to negotiate a reconciliation package on energy, health, and tax policy that will harm Americans and will not achieve their purported goals.

The Manchin-Schumer reconciliation bill is a tax increase on everyone. It would be particularly dangerous to patients in need of life-saving cures and the healthcare professionals who care for them. This bill’s excessive spending will inevitably violate President Biden’s promise not to raise taxes on Americans making less than $400,000 per year.

This would be detrimental to patients, doctors, and the healthcare industry as a whole. Price controls are short-sighted, and not a viable solution for patients who need access to drugs.

Price controls would hinder innovation and destroy research efforts into life-saving cures. This policy would also reduce access to drugs for patients who need them the most.

The reconciliation bill would make life-saving cures increasingly inaccessible and would line the pockets of cash-flush insurers with the money of American taxpayers, all while not properly addressing inflation.

Large healthcare insurers have been flourishing in the pandemic, and do not need any handouts from the government while patients and doctors are struggling.

The reconciliation package promises to build back broker:

1.     Give away to insurers after earning handsome Q2 profits

2.     Inefficient waste of taxpayer dollars

3.     Contributes to inflation

4.     Institutes price controls on life-saving cures and medicines

5.     Does not provide savings directly to patients

Therefore, the Trade Alliance to Promote Prosperity is calling on the U.S. Senate to reject the Schumer-Manchin reconciliation package in order to save the lives of Americans relying on new and innovative cures.
