TAPP Celebrates Intellectual Property Awareness Month

October is Intellectual Property (IP) Awareness Month, marking a crucial time to recognize the vital role that IP plays in driving innovation, strengthening the economy, and protecting creators’ rights. Intellectual property isn’t just a legal concept—it’s the foundation of countless inventions, products, and creative works that make up our day-to-day lives.

The importance of IP goes beyond protecting ideas—it’s a driver of jobs and economic growth. According to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), IP-intensive industries supported 62.5 million jobs in the United States in 2019, accounting for nearly 44% of all employment. From technology and manufacturing to film, music, and pharmaceuticals, IP rights help ensure innovators and creators are rewarded for their work while encouraging ongoing creativity and investment.

This month, TAPP encourages communities, schools, and businesses to learn and recognize the value of strong intellectual property protections and to support the systems that make innovation possible.

TAPP celebrates IP Awareness Month because it’s about ensuring that American innovation continues to thrive.
